Résumé : A sun eh-derived alpha-azide-omega-alkyne 1,4 3,6-dianhydrohexitol AB monomer and a novel symmetrical heterofunctional A(2)B(2) aliphatic cross-linker, i c 2,2-bis(azidomethyl)-1.3-bis(O-propargyl) propanediol, were copolymerized at various molar ratios to generate biosourced networks through thermal 1,3-dipolar Huisgen polyaddition The investigation of the cross-linking reactions through DSC analyses confirmed the highly exothermic character of the azide/alkyne cycloaddition (Delta H-(total) = 232 +/- 5 kJ/mol of functional groups of type A or B) and as predicted clearly underlined a one-to-one relationship between the glass transition temperature and the conversion Experimental values of conversion at the gel point estimated from DSC and rheological measurements deviated significantly from the ideal main-field theory of network formation On the basis of statistical calculations, this behavior was assigned to the occurrence of intramolecular cyclizations during the network formation Although a significant fraction of intramolecular cycles was generated during the curing process, the AB + A(2)B(2) thermal 1,3-dipolar Huisgen polyaddition strategy afforded relatively high glass transition temperature polytriazole networks (T-g >= 140 degrees C) using versatile processing conditions and in the absence of additives.

Résumé : Although pulsed coherent laser radar vibrometry has been introduced as an improvement over its Continuous Wave (CW) counterpart, it remains very sensitive to decorrelation noises such as speckle, and other disturbances of the measurement. Taking advantage of more polyvalent poly-pulse waveforms, we address the issue with advanced signal processing. We have conducted what we believe is the first extensive comparison of processing techniques considering CW, pulse-pair and poly-pulse emissions. In this framework, we introduce a computationally efficient maximum likelihood estimator and test signal tracking on pseudo time-frequency representations, which respectively help deal with speckle noise and fading of the signal, in harsh noise conditions. Our comparison on simulated signals is validated on a 1.55µm all-fiber vibrometer experiment, with an apparatus simulating vibration and strong speckle noise. Results show the advantage of estimators taking into account actual noise statistics, and call for a wider use of time-frequency representations to track the vibration modulated signal.

Résumé : The SoCKET project (SoC1 toolKit for critical Embedded sysTems)2 gathers industrial and academic partners to address the issue of design methodologies for critical embedded systems. They work towards the definition of a “seamless” design flow which integrates qualification and certification, from the system level to integrated circuits and to software. This paper sketches such a design flow and the associated methodologies, and briefly describes its application to industrial case studies.

Résumé : Limb development is a complex process requiring proper spatio-temporal expression of a network of limb specific morphogens. Grem1 and Fmn1 play an important role in mouse and chick limb development. The mouse limb deformity (ld) phenotype with digit reduction, syndactyly, radio-ulnar synostosis, variable renal defects and absent fibulae is caused by loss of Grem1 function. This could be due to either coding Grem1 homozygous mutations or homozygous deletions of the neighbouring Fmn1 gene, which also removes limb specific regulatory sequences of Grem1. Recent studies reinforce the hypothesis that a loss of Fmn1 protein could also contribute to the observed ld anomalies. In addition, an over-expression of Grem1 in developing chick limbs represses the programmed cell death in the interdigital mesenchyme, resulting in interdigital webbing and truncation of distal cartilage elements. We report here, for the first time, chromosomal imbalances in the GREM1-FMN1 region in individuals with limb defects. A 263Kb homozygous deletion of FMN1 was associated with oligosyndactyly, radioulnar synostosis, hearing loss and renal defects, features identical to ld mice. A 1.7Mb duplication encompassing both the GREM1 and FMN1 genes was detected in a patient with isolated Cenani-Lenz-like oligosyndactyly of the hands, resembling the transgenic chick wings in which Grem1 was over-expressed. The phenotypes of these two patients represent new entities/syndromes within the Cenani-Lenz clinical spectrum- (1) an autosomal recessive Oligosyndactyly, Radio-Ulnar Synostosis, Hearing loss and Renal defect syndrome and (2) an autosomal dominant Cenani-Lenz-like non-syndromic Oligosyndactyly.

Résumé : Ground based lidars can provide continuous observations of tropospheric water vapor profiles using the Raman scattering by water vapor and nitrogen molecules. A Raman water vapor lidar was deployed at La Reunion over the period 2002-2005 in aim to perform a preliminary study of water vapor monitoring and evaluate the needs in view of a more specific lidar system to be implemented at the Observatory of Physique de l’Atmosphère de La Reunion (OPAR). A statistical study of the distribution of water vapor profiles is presented, and some investigations concerning the calibration have been evaluated. The data set having several long acquisition measurements during nighttime, an analysis of the diurnal cycle of water vapor has also been investigated. Based on these results, the characteristics and the design of a future lidar system to be implemented at the new observatory (2000 meters) for long-term water vapor monitoring are presented.

Résumé : Atmospheric gravity waves and turbulence generate small-scale fluctuations of wind, pressure, density and temperature in the atmosphere. These fluctuations represent a real danger for commercial aircrafts and are known under the generic name of Clear Air Turbulence (CAT). They are not resolved in weather forecast models and are therefore unpredictable. A ground-based Rayleigh lidar was designed and implemented to remotely detect and characterize the atmospheric variability induced by gravity waves and turbulence in vertical scales between 10m and 1000m. Field measurements at Observatoire de Haute-Provence (France) have shown that the built lidar device was actually able to detect episodes of turbulence. This is to our knowledge the first Rayleigh lidar system able to detect clear air turbulence. The built lidar device may serve as a test bed for the definition of embarked CAT detection lidar systems on board airliners.
