Résumé : This paper describes a real-time audio analysis/resynthesis system that we developed for a music piece for ensemble and electronics. The system combines real-time audio analysis and concatenative synthesis based on the segmentation of sound streams into constituting segments and the description of segments by an efficient set of descriptors adapted to the given musical context. The system has been implemented in Max/MSP using the FTM & Co and MuBu libraries and successfully employed in the production and performance of the piece. As more and more research in the domain of music information retrieval, we use the term of typo-morhpology to designate the description of sounds by morphologic criteria including the temporal evolution of sound features that also can provide pertinent means for the classification of sounds. Although, the article mainly insists on the technical aspects of the work, it occasionally contextualizes the different technical choices regarding particular musical aspects.

Résumé : L'étude des résonateurs est très répandue en acoustique, notamment dans le domaine musical. En effet, la géométrie interne (la perce) est la caractéristique essentielle de l'instrument quant à son comportement acoustique. La justesse de l'instrument va ainsi dépendre de la géométrie de son résonateur assimilé à une colonne d'air. Pour un instrument à vent, nous avons un couplage qui se produit avec le musicien à une extrémité du résonateur qui va constituer la partie excitatrice et un autre couplage à la fin du résonateur avec le milieu extérieur, c'est ce qui correspond au rayonnement. C'est principalement à ce dernier que nous nous sommes intéressé dans notre étude, notamment au lien qu'il peut exister entre le rayonnement d'un résonateur et sa géométrie. Dans cette étude, nous souhaitons dépasser le cadre strictement musical et nous intéresser à tous types de résonateurs afin de prendre en compte l'influence du rayonnement multimodal sur le champ de pression en tout point à l'intérieur d'un résonateur de géométrie plus complexe que le tuyau cylindrique (pavillons, ...). Le but de ce travail a été de développer un outil numérique nous permettant d'étudier le couplage entre deux milieux dans l'optique d'une optimisation géométrique du rayonnement. Afin d'étudier des géométries complexes, nous avons développé une méthode hybride en utilisant les avantages de la méthode modale (rapidité des calculs) et ceux de la méthode numérique (calcul du rayonnement de géométries complexes). L'idée est de décrire la partie passive à géométrie simple de notre système à l'aide de la méthode analytique et la partie à géométrie complexe et dissipative avec les éléments finis de frontière. Nous donnons quelques résultats sur l'étude du spectre complexe de quelques résonateurs de géométries plus complexes que le tuyau cylindrique. Des premiers résultats sur l'influence de la forme des pavillons sur le rayonnement sont présentés.

Résumé : The paper proposes to integrate design and formal modelling approaches, based on MARTE, IF and CDL, to evaluate different possible uses and configurations of a data acquisition software component. The uses are related to actor's (sensor and application) behaviour and configurations are related to implementation parameterization. Evaluation considers safety and performance properties, delay evaluation, and are automatically evaluated by OBP tool. The work is illustrated via an example to show the impact of parameters and contextual use on software acquisition driver performances. Using this tool, it is possible to tune the driver's parameters to get the required performances, in term of delays, for a certain context use. The approach is applied to sensor monitoring applications.

Résumé : Alphaviruses, including Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), produce a transient illness in humans, but severe forms leading to chronic incapacitating arthralgia/arthritis have been reported by mechanisms largely ill-characterized. The pathogenesis of CHIKV was addressed in a prospective cohort study of 49 hospitalized patients from Reunion Island subsequently categorized into two distinct groups at 12 mo postinfection. Comprehensive analyses of the clinical and immunological parameters throughout the disease course were analyzed in either the “recovered” or the “chronic” groups to identify prognostic markers of arthritis-like pathology after CHIKV disease. We found that the chronic group consisted mainly of more elderly patients (\textgreater60 y) and with much higher viral loads (up to 1010 viruses per milliliter of blood) during the acute phase. Remarkably, a rapid innate immune antiviral response was demonstrated by robust dendritic/NK/CD4/CD8 cell activation and accompanied by a rather weak Th1/Th2 cytokine response in both groups. Interestingly, the antiviral immune response witnessed by high levels of IFN-α mRNA in PBMCs and circulating IL-12 persisted for months only in the chronic group. CHIKV (RNA and proteins) was found in perivascular synovial macrophages in one chronic patient 18 mo postinfection surrounded by infiltrating NK and T cells (CD4++ but rare cytotoxic CD8). Fibroblast hyperplasia, strong angiogenesis, tissue lesions given the high levels of matrix metalloproteinase 2, and acute cell death [high cleaved poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase staining] were observed in the injured synovial tissue. These observed cellular and molecular events may contribute to chronic arthralgia/arthritis targeted by methotrexate used empirically for effective treatment but with immunosuppressive function in a context of viral persistence.

Résumé : Pursuing the electrochemical evaluation vs. Li of carbonyl-based cyclic structures deriving from the oxocarbon family, polyketones with N-cyclic structure are investigated to probe the potential modifications. In this communication, we specifically report on the electrochemical investigation of our first selected family of heterocycles based on the 2,3,5,6-tetraketopiperazine unit. Working in a systematic way, a series of tetraketopiperazine molecules with quite different R groups as substituents (i.e., phenyl, allyl and propyl functions) have been synthesized and characterized. Such small molecules were found to rapidly solubilise in commonly used electrolytes. To bypass this issue, we have prepared an oligomeric form via acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET). Preliminary results on the poly-N,N'-diallyl-2,3,5,6-tetraketopiperazine oligomer show a sustained reversible capacity of 110 mAh/g at near 2.45 V. The insight gained from this work is the fact that two intracyclic nitrogen atoms or a lithiated ene-diolate functionality in the C6-based polyketone cyclic structure induces a similar tuning of the redox potential.

Résumé : Sixteen years of ozone measurements (1992-2006) at Reunion Island (21°S, 55.5°E) have been processed to detect stratospheric signatures on each single ozone profile. The characterisation method consists in the advection of the potential vorticity (PV) over two to ten days of backtrajectory with the lagrangian trajectory code LACYTRAJ. LACYTRAJ is a Trajectory-Reverse Domain Filling code using the ERA40 ECMWF database and allowing the reconstruction of high resolution advected PV profiles. Correlation between high values of ozone mixing ratio and high PV is interpreted as a stratospheric signature. A climatology of STE events at Reunion has been derived and reveals that STE events occur more frequently during spring (SON) and summer (DJF). The method is tested for a set of PV threshold values (i.e. 1 PVU, 1.5 PVU and 2 PVU) and for a set of duration of backtrajectories (i.e. 2 days, 5 days and 10 days). The number of detected STE is sensitive to PV threshold values and duration criterions. For instance, the number of stratospheric intrusions detected in October with a 1.5 PVU criterion ranges between 25% (2 days of backtrajectories) and 56% (10 days of backtrajectories). The vertical distributions of STE show intrusions covering the whole free troposphere (between 7 and 15 km) and mainly located in the upper troposphere. Finally, results show that an important number of stratospheric intrusions are detected during spring and in the upper troposphere what points at the contribution of the stratospheric source to the tropospheric ozone spring maximum which is strongly influenced by the biomass burning emissions from South Africa and Madagascar.

Résumé : Understanding the relationships between climate and carbon exchange by terrestrial ecosystems is critical to predict future levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide because of the potential accelerating effects of positive climate–carbon cycle feedbacks. However, directly observed relationships between climate and terrestrial CO2 exchange with the atmosphere across biomes and continents are lacking. Here we present data describing the relationships between net ecosystem exchange of carbon (NEE) and climate factors as measured using the eddy covariance method at 125 unique sites in various ecosystems over six continents with a total of 559 site-years. We find that NEE observed at eddy covariance sites is (1) a strong function of mean annual temperature at mid- and high-latitudes, (2) a strong function of dryness at mid- and low-latitudes, and (3) a function of both temperature and dryness around the mid-latitudinal belt (45°N). The sensitivity of NEE to mean annual temperature breaks down at ~ 16 °C (a threshold value of mean annual temperature), above which no further increase of CO2 uptake with temperature was observed and dryness influence overrules temperature influence.
