Résumé : Ce chapitre est consacré à l'évaluation des systèmes de synthèse de la parole à partir du texte en Français, menée dans la campagne EVALDA/Evasy entre 2003 et 2005. Le projet Evasy fait suite, dans un autre cadre, au projet AUPELF ARC-B3 [dAL 98 ; YVO 98], le premier projet concerté au niveau de la francophonie sur l'évaluation de la parole de synthèse (1996-1999). Les systèmes de synthèse de parole à partir du texte, dont les premiers sont apparus il y a plus de trente ans, ne sont sortis des laboratoires pour des applications commerciales que depuis environ une quinzaine d'années. Pour un état de l'art sur la synthèse à partir du texte en Français au moment du début du projet Evasy, le lecteur pourra consulter et écouter le disque compact d'exemples sonore associé

Résumé : In this communication, we demonstrate that dopamine is able to undergo a polymerisation process in (PLL-HA)n polyelectrolyte multilayer films, and that this polymerisation is of the same nature as in solution at pH 8.5. This polymerisation changes the chemical composition and decreases the mobility of the PLL chains in the film, and ultimately allows the easy detachment of the film as free-standing membranes with 0.1 M HCl solutions.

Résumé : The AMMA (African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis) program is dedicated to providing a better understanding of the West African monsoon and its influence on the physical, chemical and biological environment regionally and globally, as well as relating variability of this monsoon system to issues of health, water resources, food security and demography for West African nations. Within this framework, an intensive field campaign took place during the summer of 2006 to better document specific processes and weather systems at various key stages of this monsoon season. This campaign was embedded within a longer observation period that documented the annual cycle of surface and atmospheric conditions between 2005 and 2007. The present paper provides a large and regional scale overview of the 2006 summer monsoon season, that includes consideration of of the convective activity, mean atmospheric circulation and synoptic/intraseasonal weather systems, oceanic and land surface conditions, continental hydrology, dust concentration and ozone distribution. The 2006 African summer monsoon was a near-normal rainy season except for a large-scale rainfall excess north of 15° N. This monsoon season was also characterized by a 10-day delayed onset compared to climatology, with convection becoming developed only after 10 July. This onset delay impacted the continental hydrology, soil moisture and vegetation dynamics as well as dust emission. More details of some less-well-known atmospheric features in the African monsoon at intraseasonal and synoptic scales are provided in order to promote future research in these areas.

Résumé : An idealized vertical-meridional zonally symmetrical version of the Méso-NH model is used to study the response of tropospheric ozone to the dynamics of the West African monsoon, as well as surface emissions and NOx-production by lightning (LNOx). An O3-NOx-VOC chemical scheme has been added to the dynamical model, including surface emissions and a parameterization of the LNOx production. The model shows that the ozone precursors emitted at the surface are uplifted by deep convection and then advected in the upper branches of the Hadley cells on both sides of the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). The NOx produced by lightning promotes chemical ozone production in the middle and upper troposphere from the oxidation of CO and VOCs. The analysis of the convective and chemical tendencies shows that the ozone minimum at the ITCZ is induced by venting of ozone-poor air masses into the upper troposphere. The bi-dimensional model suffers from limitations due to the absence of exchange with the higher latitudes and ventilation in the zonal direction. Despite of these restrictions, sensitivity simulations show that the LNOx source and biogenic VOCs are necessary to create the meridional gradient of ozone observed by the Measurements of OZone and water vapor by in-service AIrbus airCraft (MOZAIC) aircrafts in the southern Hadley cell. The LNOx source is also required to maintain the meridional ozone gradient up to 24°N in the northern Hadley cell. The modeled meridional gradient of O3 in the upper troposphere ranges from 0.22 to 0.52 ppbv/deg without the LNOx source and from 0.60 to 1.08 ppbv/deg with the LNOx source, in the southern and the northern cells respectively.

Résumé : The mineralogical composition of the Martian surface is constrained by analyzing the data of the OMEGA visible and near infrared imaging spectrometer onboard Mars Express. Ferric signatures had previously been reported in Valles Marineris, Margaritifer Terra, and Terra Meridiani. Here we use three independent data reduction methods (Spectral Angle Mapper, a modified Spectral Mixture Analysis and Modified Gaussian Model) to detect and map ferric oxides in East Candor Chasma, a part of Valles Marineris. Ferric oxides in East Candor Chasma are concentrated in scattered formations. MOLA altimetry indicates that the ferric oxides are preferentially located in topographic lows. THEMIS, HRSC and MOC images show that the ferric oxide spectral signatures are systematically correlated with superficial deposits of low albedo, located at the foot of, or resting on Interior Layered Deposits (ILDs). This spatial distribution suggests that ferric oxides are genetically linked to ILDs. Gravity and wind‐driven remobilization of ferric oxides previously formed in the ILDs can explain their accumulation around the ILDs.

Résumé : We report that nanometric bismuth can directly be electrodeposited at room temperature without the use of a nanoporous template. The morphology, microstructure, and purity of the as-prepared electrodeposits were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy. Typically, well-crystallized nanometer-sized particles of Bi ranging from 10 to 20 nm are obtained. The key to success of such a process lies in the electrochemical coreduction of pyrocatechol violet during the bismuth deposition, which disturbs the electrocrystallization process. As a first possible application, we show that Bi/Cu nanoarchitectured electrodes exhibit interesting rate capabilities when used as electrode material vs Li.
