Résumé : In this paper we present a new method of data hiding in 3D objects. This method is based on a 3D model represented by a cloud of vertices and a list of edges corresponding to the triangular mesh of the surface. The main idea of this method is to find and to synchronize particular areas that can be used to embed the message. The data hiding relies on the modification of the topology of edges in chosen areas. These modifications, as a consequence, have to change the structure of triangles constructed in these areas. This method has the advantage of not changing the position of the vertices of the 3D model. This invariant on the vertex positions allows us to carry out an embedding that is robust to the affine transformations of type rotation, translation or zoom.

Résumé : This paper concerns the integration of a complex vision algorithm on a dedicated architecture. Perception is required on a vehicle (robot or car), especially in order to detect obstacles along a trajectory for a robot or on the road for a car. This function must satisfy very hard real-time constraints so that an avoidance strategy could be executed by the onboard system on a robot or by a driver on a car: it is required to detect obstacles at 100Hz. Several sensors have been used to acquire perceptual data from which obstacles are detected: we propose to use a stereovision sensor. This algorithm is so complex that it must be integrated on a dedicated architecture to provide a high resolution 3D reconstruction of the environment at 100Hz. At first, this paper describes a correlation-based stereovision algorithm, and a generic architecture including several FPGA-based boards, designed to execute visual functions at very high frequency. Then we propose a strategy to implement our stereovision algorithm on this computing unit, with four FPGA-based boards.

Résumé : The xeroderma pigmentosum group D (XPD/ERCC2), a subunit of TFIIH, plays a critical role in nucleotide excision repair (NER) and basal transcription. There are hot spots of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) within the XPD gene sequence that have been incriminated in the pathophysiology of human cancers, possibly by altering the capacity of the cells for removing DNA damage induced by chemical adducts and UV radiation. A controversy persists on the role of these SNPs and this question has not been approached with appropriate biochemical tests. Thus, we sought to quantify in vitro, the effect of codon variants 201 (p.H201Y), 312 (p.D312N), 751 (p.K751Q) of XPD as well as the double XPD variant (p.D312N/p.K751Q) on NER and basal transcription. We used the baculovirus expression system to reconstitute recombinant TFIIH complexes in which the XPD variants were introduced and we analyzed their specific transcription and NER activities. Experimentally, variations in NER capacity and basal transcription activation of the four variants were not detectable in vitro. Structural analyses of XPD revealed that these single nucleotide polymorphisms sites were located outside the main catalytic domains. Altogether, evolutionary data, structural analyses and biochemical investigations strongly suggest that all XPD variants are comparable regarding the main properties of XPD and TFIIH.

Résumé : OBJECTIVE: To compare mortality rates in combination antiretroviral therapy (cART)-treated HIV-infected adults with mortality in the general population according to the level of CD4 cell count reached and the duration of exposure to cART. METHODS: HIV-infected adults initiating a protease inhibitor-containing treatment between 1997 and 1999 were selected in the Agence Nationale de Recherches sur le Sida et les hepatites virales (ANRS) APROCO and AQUITAINE cohorts. CD4 cell counts were estimated during follow-up using a 2-phase mixed linear model. Standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) were computed in reference to the 2002 French population rates, overall and for the time period spent with a CD4 count >or=500 cells/mm3. To identify if and when mortality rates reached values of the general population, SMRs were computed successively with truncation at each year of follow-up. RESULTS: The 2,435 adults (77% men, baseline median age = 36 years, and baseline median CD4 count = 270 cells/mm3) had a median follow-up of 6.8 years. The SMR was 7.0 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 6.2 to 7.8). During the 5,402 person-years spent with a CD4 count >or=500 cells/mm3, the mortality reached the level of the general population after the sixth year after cART initiation (SMR = 0.5, 95% CI: 0.1 to 1.6). CONCLUSION: Although overall mortality was higher in cART-treated HIV-infected adults, a subgroup with especially good prognosis can be identified, and these characteristics should be targeted for long-term treatment.

Résumé : In this paper, some aspects of a multiscale strategy for the analysis of cracked structures are presented. The purposes of this strategy are, first, to separate the local effects from the global effects in order to keep a macromesh unchanged during the crack's propagation and, second, to enable one to use a proper fine-scale description only where it is required. Here, the propagation aspect is not addressed. We focus on the crack modeling. Two main aspects are discussed: the first is the choice of the macroscale and its associated discretization in order to include the macroeffect of a crack; the second is the use of a decomposition of the domain into substructures and interfaces in order to limit the use of the refined scale only to where it is required.

Résumé : We study regression estimation when the explanatory variable is functional. Nonparametric estimates of the regression operator have been recently introduced. They depend on a smoothing factor which controls its behavior, and the aim of our work is to construct some data-driven criterion for choosing this smoothing parameter. The criterion can be formulated in terms of a functional version of cross-validation ideas. Under mild assumptions on the unknown regression operator, it is seen that this rule is asymptotically optimal. As by-products of this result, we state some asymptotic equivalences for several measures of accuracy for nonparametric estimate of the regression operator. We also present general inequalities for bounding moments of random sums involving functional variables. Finally, a short simulation study is carried out to illustrate the behavior of our method for finite samples.

Résumé : Kernel estimates of a regression operator are investigated when the explanatory variable is of functional type. The bandwidths are locally chosen by a data-driven method based on the minimization of a functional version of a cross-validated criterion. A short asymptotic theoretical support is provided and the main body of this paper is devoted to various finite sample size applications. In particular, it is shown through some simulations, that a local bandwidth choice enables to capture some underlying heterogeneous structures in the functional dataset. As a consequence, the estimation of the relationship between a functional variable and a scalar response, and hence the prediction, can be significantly improved by using local smoothing parameter selection rather than global one. This is also confirmed from a chemometrical real functional dataset. These improvements are much more important than in standard finite dimensional setting.
