Résumé : This paper discusses the implementation of modulation chains for multi-standards communication on a dynamically and partially reconfigurable heterogeneous platform. Implementation results highlight the benefit of considering a DSP/FPGA platform instead of a multi-DSP platform since the FPGA supports efficiently intensive computation components which reduces the DSP load. Furthermore partial dynamic reconfiguration increases overall performances compared to total dynamic reconfiguration since there is 45% of bitstream size reduction which leads to a 45% decrease of the whole reconfiguration time. The implementation of modulation chains for multi-standards communication proves the availability of new technology to support efficiently Software Defined Radio.

Résumé : This paper deals with the work perfored with the project: Systems approach to environmentally acceptable farming AgriBMPWater. The main objective of the project has been to provide planners in charge of the implementation of BMPs to mitigate non point source pollution in water with: 1) A guideline allowing the definition of critical areas on which efforts should be placed in priority. 2) A selection grid permitting the assessment of BMPs in a three-dimensional space defined by environmental effectiveness, associated economics costs and social acceptability by farmers and land managers.

Résumé : The deformation of the eastern Asian lithosphere during the first part of the India-Asia collision was dominated by subduction-related extension interacting with far effects of the collision. In order to investigate the role of large-scale extension in collision tectonics, we performed analogue experiments of indentation with a model of lithosphere subjected to extension. We used a three-layer rheological model of continental lithosphere resting upon an asthenosphere of low viscosity and strained along its southern boundary by a rigid indenter progressing northward. The lithosphere model was scaled to be gravitationally unstable and to spread under its ownweight, so that extension occurred in thewhole model. The eastern boundarywas free or weakly confined and always allowed eastward spreading of the model. We studied the pattern of deformation for different boundary conditions. The experimental pattern of deformation includes a thickened zone in front of the indenter, a major northeast-trending left-lateral shear zone starting from the northwest corner of the indenter, antithetic north-south right-lateral shear zones more or less developed to the east of the indenter, and a purely extensional domain in the southeastern part of the model. In this domain, graben opening is driven by gravitational spreading, whereas it is driven by gravitational spreading and indentation in the northeastern part where grabens opened along strike-slip faults. The results are compared with the Oligo- Miocene deformation pattern of Asia consecutive to the collision of India. Our experiments bring a physical basis to models which favour distributed deformation within a slowly extruded wide region extending from the Baikal Rift to the Okhotsk Sea and to southeast Asia and Indonesia. In this large domain, the opening of backarc basins (Japan Sea, Okinawa Trough, South China Sea) and continental grabens (North China grabens) have been associated with approximately north-south-trending right-lateral strike-slip faults, which accommodated the northward penetration of India into Eurasia.

Résumé : SMOS is a mission of the European Space Agency (ESA) devoted to the monitoring of Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity maps at global scale from L-band space borne radiometric observations. It will be the first attempt to apply to remote sensing of the Earth surface, the concept of Synthetic Aperture Imaging Radiometers (SAIR), initially developed for radio astronomy. The single payload of the mission is a Microwave Imaging Radiometer with Aperture Synthesis (MIRAS) operating at 1.415 GHz. Interferometer measurements, also called complex visibilities, are obtained by cross-correlating the signals collected by every pairs of antennae of a Y-shaped interferometric array. They are related to the radiometric brightness temperature of the observed scene by a spatial FOURIER-like integral. A regularized reconstruction process provides a band-limited solution to the corresponding inverse problem where the GIBBS oscillations caused by the truncation of the complex visibilities to the star-shaped frequency coverage are damped with an appropriate windowing function. The reconstructed brightness temperature map is obtained in the reference frame of the antenna. Up to now a single isotropic windowing function has been used in simulating this process; consequently this map exhibits a constant and isotropic angular resolution over the instrument field of view. However, owing to the geometry of the problem, these properties are no longer true for its projection onto the Earth's surface. Since the retrieval of physical quantities implies to combine several measurements for various incidence angles, the variations in shape and size of the weighting function at surface level (the "SMOS pixel") may result in significant errors when the SMOS pixel features strong heterogeneities. It has been suggested that this problem could be solved by the so called "strip adaptive" processing, i.e. using a specific windowing function for every location in the SMOS antenna frame of reference, in order to achieve a close to uniform pixel at surface level. In this paper, taking advantage of the band-limited solution to the reconstruction problem, various windowing functions are used in order to provide maps which exhibit to various extents a constant and isotropic spatial resolution at ground level. This contribution describes the properties of these windowing functions and how the corresponding multi-windows apodization (i.e. strip adaptive processing) is performed. To support the theory and to illustrate the performances of this imaging method, numerical simulations are presented within the frame of the SMOS project. Various options are illustrated in terms of their consequences for soil moisture measurements retrieved from future SMOS data.

Résumé : We report the observation of optical bistability in a microcavity pumped at the \"magic angle\". Experimental evidence is given in the form of a hysteresis cycle of the nonlinear emission as a function of the pump intensity or the position of the excitation spot. The results can be well understood with simple theoretical considerations that underline the fundamental analogy between our system and an optical parametric oscillator.
