Résumé : In this paper, we present the developments realized in the "Ouragan" project around the parallelization of a "Matlab"-like tool called "SCILAB". These developments use high-performance numerical libraries and different approaches based either on the duplication of "SCILAB" processes or on computational servers. This tool, "SCILAB", allows users to perform high-level operations on distributed matrices in a metacomputing environment. We also present performance results on different architectures.

Résumé : Amplified fragment length polymorphism fingerprinting of three pairs of Meloidogyne incognita near-isogenic lines (NILs) was used to identify markers differential between nematode genotypes avirulent or virulent against the tomato Mi resistance gene. One of these sequences, present only in the avirulent lines, was used as a probe to screen a cDNA library from second-stage juveniles (J2s) and allowed cloning of a cDNA encoding a secretory protein. The putative full-length cDNA, named map-1, encoded a 458 amino acid (aa) protein containing a predictive N-terminal secretion signal peptide. The MAP-1 sequence did not show any significant similarity to proteins deposited in databases. The internal part of the protein, however, was characterized by highly conserved repetitive motives of 58 or 13 aa. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) experiments confirmed that map-1 expression was different between avirulent and virulent NILs. In PCR reactions, map-1-related sequences were amplified only in nematode populations belonging to the three species against which the Mi gene confers resistance: M. arenaria, M. incognita, and M. javanica. Polyclonal antibodies raised against a synthetic peptide deduced from the MAP-1 sequence strongly labeled J2 amphidial secretions in immunofluorescence microscopy assays, suggesting that MAP-1 may be involved in the early steps of recognition between (resistant) plants and (avirulent) nematodes.

Résumé : The SMOS L-band 2-D interferometer is based on an innovative concept of bi-dimensional aperture synthesis method. The instrument is a Y shaped structure consisting of 3 coplanar arms. The sensor has new and very significant capabilities especially in terms of multi-angular view configuration.. This paper will describe the SMOS concept in terms of instrument (characteristics) investigates the main aspects of the retrieval capabilities of the 2-D microwave interferometer for monitoring soil moisture, vegetation biomass and surface temperature. The analysis is based on model inversion taking into account the instrument characteristics. The standard error of estimate of the surface variables is computed as a function of the sensor configuration system and of the uncertainties associated with the spatial measurements. The inversion process is based on a standard minimisation routine that computes both retrieved variables and standard error associated with the retrievals. The potential of SMOS, depending on the view angle configuration and the use of the sole 1.4 GHz is investigated. These questions are key issues to define the observation configuration of SMOS that meets the scientific requirements and the technical constraints of the spatial missions.

Résumé : Lead speciation was determined in a soil developed on a geochemical anomaly arising from a Pb- Zn stratabound deposit in Largentière (Ardèche, France). This geological setting offers the opportunity to determine the preferred form(s) of Pb following soil formation on this unique anomaly. In the soil profile studied, Pb concentrates in the B-horizon (2055 mg/kg Pb) relative to both the A- (1330 mg/kg Pb) and C- (1874 mg/kg Pb) horizons. Plumbogummite (PbAl3(PO4)2(OH)5·H2O) is the main host of Pb in the soil profile. Pb also appears to be associated with Mn-(hydr)oxides, as shown by micro-analyses (EMPA, SEM-EDS, and µ-SXRF), in the form of inner-sphere Pb2+ complexes, as suggested by Pb LIII-edge EXAFS spectroscopy. Linear least-squares fitting of background-subtracted, k3-weighted Pb LIII-edge EXAFS functions derived from bulk soil samples was carried out using Pb LIII-EXAFS spectra of 22 Pb-containing model compounds. Quantitative assessment of Pb speciation revealed that, whereas plumbogummite is the most abundant Pb phase in the soil profile, Pb2+–Mn-(hydr)oxide surface complexes are gradually replaced by Pb2+-surface complexes with other phases, possibly Pb2+-organic complexes, upward in the soil profile. The presence of large amounts of Pb-phosphate in the Largentière soil suggests that low solubility phosphates may be important long-term hosts of Pb in Pb-contaminated soils that have sufficiently high phosphorous activities to cause formation of these phases.

Résumé : La multiplicité des techniques d'acquisition d'information géométrique à la disposition du géomorphologue, leurs complexités et exigences spécifiques mènent à des choix et des compromis. Nous présentons des résultats obtenus sur le glissement-coulée de Super-Sauze (bassin de Barcelonnette, Alpes-de-Haute- Provence, France). La méthodologie des photographies à basse altitude est le fruit d'un compromis jugé satisfaisant entre coût, précision et lourdeur de mise en oeuvre. Les moyens choisis sont suffisamment légers pour permettre des temps de réponse rapides face à des événements soudains, les outils et méthodes de traitement assez performants pour rivaliser avec les techniques de saisie directe sur le terrain. Le résultat final obtenu est évalué à une précision sub-métrique.

Résumé : L'identité sexuelle des sujets influence la valeur que ceux-ci accordent aux activités (Eccles, Adler, Futterman, Goff, Kaczala, Meece, & Midgley, 1983). Dans cette étude, nous essayons de montrer que le choix des pratiques sportives de 858 sujets adolescents (403 garçons et 455 filles), âgés en moyenne de 15.4 ans (ET = 0.83) est lié à leur profil de genre (Bem, 1981). Des analyses statistiques (Chi2, MANOVAs, Analyse en Composantes Multiples) furent réalisées à partir d'un questionnaire dans lequel les sujets devaient (a) répondre à une version courte du BSRI (Fontayne, Sarrazin, & Famose, 2000), (b) indiquer leur sexe, leur pratique sportive, et la modalité de cette pratique (compétitive / non-compétitive). Les résultats montrent que la perception d'un sport comme étant conforme aux rôles sexués masculin ou féminin influence le choix des pratiques. Les sujets «masculins» et «féminins» choisissent des sports congruents et rejettent les sports non congruents avec leur identité, tandis que les sujets «androgynes» et «non-différenciés» révèlent plus aisément des choix non conformes aux stéréotypes culturels de leur sexe.
