Résumé : One potential solution to diminish the aviation carbon footprint is to blend Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into jet fuels. However, the thermal stability and oxidation stability of standard jet-fuels may be affected by the addition of SAF, and a better understanding of liquid fuel oxidation kinetics is needed.The development of a kinetically well-defined reactor to study this phenomenon remains a challenge, and it is in this context that a new Si-glass microfluidic reactor with a fluid supply made of inert polyether ether ketone (PEEK) has been developed. The experimental rig PEEK-ACHU (Autoxidation µChip Heated Unit) was used to investigate the oxidation stability of a SAF surrogate, and the results were compared to Induction Period (IP) measures, obtained in a standard PetroOxy device. A mixture of n-decane and isooctane was used as the surrogate SAF. The thermal oxidation stability of the mixtures was studied in the microreactor, working at conditions up to 453 K and 40 bar, with a gas-liquid segmented flow that allows the liquid oxidation to occur in homogeneous, self-agitated, liquid slugs, without oxygen diffusion / depletion kinetic limitations. PEEK-ACHU enables residence times as long as 3.8 hours to be reached on a 4-inch diameter Si/glass wafer, with visual access to the reactor, and a well-defined kinetic study of the liquid fuel autoxidation. The total hydroperoxide (ROOH) concentration was quantified at the exit of the microreactor using a specifically designed HPLC device with a post-column reactor for iodometric titration. For comparison, the same analysis was conducted on the SAF oxidized in the PetroOxy apparatus, with the same residence time. The results show that the microfluidic apparatus is able to perform reliable autoxidation measurements with well-controlled operating parameters. The visual access of the reactor is relevant for further investigations, such as spectroscopic monitoring of deposit formation.

Résumé : Accurate egocentric body-pose estimation is essential for delivering immersive experiences in Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality (VR/AR/MR) applications. A major challenge in this setting arises from the limited field of view provided by head-mounted cameras, which often leads to self-occlusion and poor visibility of certain body joints—particularly in the lower body. Current state-of-the-art methods typically perform pose estimation frame-by-frame in a view-aligned manner. While this is computationally efficient and performs well for visible joints, it struggles to estimate occluded joints due to the lack of contextual information. In this work, we explore the role of temporal information in improving joint estimation. We propose a lightweight model that refines pose predictions by leveraging a large temporal window. Our results show that incorporating such module improves the accuracy of joint estimation without incurring a large computation overhead.

Résumé : While the Segment Anything Model (SAM) has demonstrated remarkable capabilities in general image segmentation, its direct application to medical images faces significant challenges, leading to domain-specific adaptations like MedSAM. In current medical literature, SAM-like models are often evaluated using "simulated" bounding box prompts derived from ground truth annotations, potentially overestimating their real world performance. This paper addresses this underexplored problem by systematically evaluating the influence of bounding box quality on melanoma segmentation performance using the ISIC 2018 dataset (RGB skin image corpus). Experiments were conducted on both the foundational SAM and MedSAM, utilizing a structured protocol that includes ideal bounding boxes, baseline heuristic prompts (full image, most probable location, centered point for SAM), and controlled perturbations. These perturbations comprise five levels of expanding, shrinking, and shifting the ideal bounding box (random disturbance between 5% and 25%). Our results demonstrate a significant dependence of segmentation performance on bounding box quality for both models. Depending on the type of bounding box perturbation, the Dice score decreases from 84% under ideal conditions to 37% with inaccurate bounding boxes, corresponding to a reduction of more than 50%. Notably, shrinking the bounding box has a more detrimental effect than expanding it, with accuracy dropping substantially (e.g., MedSAM's Dice score decreases from 91.5 to 60.9 under a 25% shrinkage). Moreover, medical pre-training significantly improves robustness, as MedSAM outperforms SAM by approximately 7 Dice points under ideal conditions. These findings highlight that although SAM-like models offer promising capabilities, their reliance on high-quality bounding box prompts currently limits their applicability for fully unsupervised segmentation in medical image processing pipelines. This underscores the need for either human intervention or more advanced automated prompting strategies in clinical applications.

Résumé : Cette communication porte sur la difusion de changements sémantiques au sein d'un corpus de tweets en français et en diachronie courte. Plus précisément, nous analysons le profil des adoptants de changements sémantiques en termes de position dans le réseau social formé par les utilisateurs de Twitter (X), et comment celui-ci évolue à chaque étape de la diffusion des changements. Nous montrons que les profils identifiés rejoignent ceux des acteurs du changement décrits dans les travaux antérieurs menés en sociolinguistique variationniste, mais aussi qu'un schéma global similaire se retrouve entre plusieurs types de changements linguistiques.

Résumé : Introduction: The standard dialysate flow (Qd) for hemodialysis (HD) is currently set at 500 mL/min. One potential, sustainable, and cost-effective solution for eco-friendly HD may involve reducing Qd to limit wastewater. However, the effect of reduced Qd on small molecule and middle molecule (MM) removal remains to be investigated. Methods: In this prospective observational study, 74 patients on different maintenance dialysis modalities with Qd set at 500 mL/min (Qd500) were assigned to receive Qd at 400 mL/min (Qd400) for 3 months. Dialysis adequacy, including small solute removal and MM reduction ratio (RR), was evaluated at enrollment and after 3 months. Results: Compared to Qd500, Qd400 after 3 months achieved similar single-pool Kt/V (1.41 ± 0.30 vs. 1.43 ± 0.33, p = 0.58), equilibrated KT/V, urea RR, creatinine RR, and phosphate RR. Qd400 vs. Qd500 provided significantly higher beta2-microglobulin RR (77.0 [71.4–81.7] vs. 74.7 [68.4–79.4] %, p = 0.009) and lower kappa free light chain (FLC) RR (54.2 [42.1–64.4] vs. 57.6 [41.6–65.0] %, p = 0.03), whereas myoglobin and lambda FLC RR were similar. Qd400 resulted in higher pre-dialysis urea (20.2 ± 5.5 vs. 18.2 ± 6.2 mmol/L, p = 0.002), creatinine (694.0 ± 179.5 vs. 665.6 ± 220.4 µmol/L, p = 0.029), beta2-microglobulin (26.5 [23.0–30.0] vs. 23.5 [20.0–28.0] mg/L, p = 0.0001), and myoglobin (174.0 [122.0–251.0] vs. 159.5 [119.0–195.0] µg/L, p = 0.033) levels. Pre-dialysis levels of albumin, potassium, bicarbonate, phosphate, and calcium were similar between Qd400 and Qd500. Conclusion: Three months of Qd at 400 mL/min appears to provide similar small molecule and MM removal, but with an increase in pre-dialysis urea, creatinine, beta2-microglobulin, and myoglobin levels. Although this strategy could help preserve water, its potential impact on long-term clinical outcomes deserves further evaluation.

Résumé : We report on the characterization of a coronal mass ejection (CME) observed on 22 October 2003 by the LASCO-C2 and C3 coronagraphs over a time interval of 6 hours. This CME clearly appears as an asymmetric flux-rope in self-similar expansion and in spite of having a single vantage point, this relatively simple morphology and the geometry of the observations allow us to reconstruct its shape and its trajectory. The images are first processed in order to remove most of the background or foreground coronal structures (essentially streamers) which are superimposed on the CME. The analysis is based on forward modeling of an asymmetric structure where the plasma is homogeneously distributed in a thin shell and synthetic images are calculated from Thomson scattering by the electrons. They are best fitted to the images to determine the exact shape of the flux rope, and to track its evolution characterized by a radial propagation in self-similar expansion. The analysis supports the forward propagation (over the backward one) characterized by constant accelerations of 76 and 46 m/sec^2 for the front and rear parts of the CME, respectively. The respective velocities at 20 Rsun reach 2000 and 1100 km/s, and its mass unbiased by projection effects is estimated at 1.7x10^16 g. Altogether, these are quite exceptionally large values among CMEs and imply a very energetic event. No erupting event could be identified at or near the calculated initial location of the CME. It lies 25° west of the active region NOAA 10484, the site of contemporary, violent, and recurrent solar eruptions (the ``Halloween event'') and a putative connection would require a strong deflection over a very short path. Therefore, the origin of this CME remains unclear.

Résumé : Diamonds and nanodiamonds (NDs) containing quantum color centers, such as nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers, have been widely studied in recent years for their promising applications across various fields, including cryptography and telecommunications, medical sciences, and sensing. In the context of sensing, recent studies on color centers such as silicon-vacancy (SiV) and germanium-vacancy (GeV) centers have shown great potential for measuring physical quantities like magnetic fields, temperature, and strain. This is due to their intense zero-phonon line (ZPL) optical signal, which accounts for about 80% of their total luminescence and is characteristic of group-IV color centers (G4V) [1]. In our recent papers, we demonstrated that as-grown CVD NDs containing SiV and GeV centers, featuring luminescent ZPLs and excellent photostability at room temperature, can function effectively as nanosensors under high stress and pressure conditions (up to 180 GPa) [2, 3]. To advance our research, in this work we investigate the optical properties of SiV centers in as-grown NDs at cryogenic temperatures. For SiV centers, which have spin 1/2, the fine structure should become accessible through the Jahn-Teller effect, which lifts the degeneracy at cryogenic temperatures (< 20 K). However, experiments on our as-grown NDs reveal significant spectral broadening even at around 9 K, caused by lattice strain, which prevents access to the optically addressable electronic spin states of the SiV center. To overcome this limitation, we propose an original post-treatment involving high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) annealing using the Paris–Edinburgh press. This approach allows the gradual increase of temperature and pressure allows for control over the undesired diamond-to-graphite phase transition. HPHT annealing experiments were conducted at the PSICHE beamline of Synchrotron SOLEIL [4], where X-ray diffraction and tomography analyses enabled precise monitoring of P-T parameters and made it possible for the first time to access single fine-structure transitions of SiV centers in such NDs. Résumé : L'article propose une comparaison européenne de la répartition de la dépense de consommation de produits agroalimentaires en valeurs ajoutées induites dans les différentes branches, taxes et importations. Il étudie plus particulièrement le niveau de la part de l'agriculture dans cette consommation ainsi que ses déterminants. L'étude, fondée sur les calculs initiés par W. Leontief, adaptés aux données disponibles (tableaux entrées-sorties d'Eurostat), enrichit les deux approches nationales de même nature existantes : l'« euro alimentaire » en France et le « food dollar » aux États-Unis. Les résultats montrent que les pays plus importateurs et à fortes taxes se distinguent de ceux où le partage de la dépense de consommation est plus favorable aux valeurs ajoutées. Les pays se distinguent également selon la répartition de ces valeurs ajoutées entre commerce et services d'une part, agriculture et industrie agroalimentaire d'autre part. En France, relativement à d'autres pays européens, le partage de la dépense est plutôt favorable aux valeurs ajoutées, avec une part de l'agriculture proche de la moyenne.
