Résumé : In current times, supply chains are gaining momentum because of customers’ many requirements, such as more flexibility, velocity, information, and traceability of products. Several factors can explain this phenomenon: the acceleration of technological innovations, which allow for better performance of systems and processes; globalisation of trade, fostering faster access to products for customers; and environmental responsibility, which drives customers to inquire about the sustainability of their purchases. In this scenario, the disruptive technology of ‘blockchain’ could be a solution to meeting these challenges. This system is characterised by high safety and traceability, and is becoming revolutionary in supply chains, which could have a substantial impact on companies. This exploratory study aims to investigate the current existing research on blockchain applied to supply chains and the main drivers and obstacles that companies face in implementing this technology. Interviews were conducted with ten companies to understand the motivations and risks of embracing this technology. The results show traceability and communication to be the main incentives for its deployment, while interoperability represents its main obstacle.

Résumé : The role of individual supply chain actors in carbon emissions reduction (CER) is well-documented. However, it is critical to identify conditions required to develop a systemic approach for encouraging these actors to share their visions and align their environmental strategy for CER. Drawing on the stakeholder theory, this study aims to identify the determinants, modalities and practices for CER necessary for a better environmental alignment between actors. We also proposed a conceptual framework to study the collaboration between shippers and logistics service providers (LSPs) to achieve CER within the supply chain. Design/methodology/approach We conducted a systematic review of 28 published papers in four phases determining the study’s key concepts and boundaries, identifying the relevant literature, structuring the review, and conducting an in deep analysis. Findings LSPs demonstrate higher motivation for green practices and more offerings than that required by shippers. Shippers and buyers play a crucial role in empowering their LSPs and engaging in systemic and dynamic progress. A collaborative approach can help buyers and LSPs attain their CER targets. They must jointly manage the environmental issues to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and other obstacles to their environmental goals. Originality The review reveals the need for a systemic dyadic approach to facilitate institutional isomorphism and mobilise all stakeholders for greening transportation practices.

Résumé : This study stems from a research project aimed at investigating the factors facilitating and hampering the success of the EVE (Engagements Volontaires pour l’Environnement) program recently launched in France. Similarly to other countries, in which successfully environmental voluntary commitment programs are currently in place (SmartWay in the USA), EVE program aspires to improve transport operators efficiency and to reduce CO2 emissions in the environment. However, the multiple relationships between public and private actors involved in the program (ranging from the program coordinator to transport organisations), the complexity of transport and logistics sector (including the differences among the transport operators sub-groups) may prevent the achievement of the desired project outcomes. With the aim to support the EVE program coordinator to design and assess effective policies to pursue the expected goals, a System Dynamics (SD) model will be used. As the research project is in the early stage, the paper outlines the research path, main feedback loops and a preliminary stock-and-flow structure to be used in group-model building sessions with project’ participants.

Résumé : L’application en 2013 d’un dispositif règlementaire (Décret 2011-1336) relatif à l’affichage CO2 Transport s’inscrit dans une dynamique de pression institutionnelle sur les entreprises. A partir de l’analyse des résultats d’une recherche qualitative, cette communication s’attache à analyser la manière dont les entreprises ont appliqué cette nouvelle réglementation et son impact sur les pratiques d’affichage CO2 Transport. Les résultats confirment la connaissance du décret par les entreprises françaises mais constatent une application disparate ainsi qu’une faible influence sur les pratiques. La recherche permet d’identifier les leviers et freins à l’application du dispositif règlementaire français et ouvre des pistes tant d’un point de vue managérial que scientifique.
